Amy For Africa Whiffle Ball Tournament
SATURDAY, AUGUST 2, 2014
The second annual Amy For Africa Whiffle Ball Tournament will be played Saturday, Aug. 2, at Unity Baptist Church.
This year will be four-person teams at $32 per team ($8 per person with all money going to the AFA mission). There will be two fields and tournament will be single-elimination, 3-inning games. There will also be a Home Run Derby midway through the day.
“Holy Smokes” pulled pork sandwiches and Chick fil-A sandwiches will be sold and there will also be a Dunking Booth.
The tournament has some changes too that will make the games even more offensive-minded than last year when L-Train battled out of the loser’s brackets to win the tournament. Sam Beason is the tournament director.
“This is what I was made to do,” said the math teacher from Russell High School. “I’m really excited about the tournament. It’s going to be a lot of fun for everybody.”
One change is that teams will be pitching to their own players. Also, one of the fields will be home run friendly with 75-foot fences. The “big field” will be 90-feet down the line and 110 feet to center field. Teams who win at least once will play on both fields.
The first 32 teams to register and pay the entry fee will make up the field. Email email@example.com to enter.
